Savannah Wessies Named LeTourneau University Heritage Scholar

Savannah Wessies of San Antonio, Texas, is one of 10 high school students from around the world to receive a Heritage Scholarship from LeTourneau University. Wessies will be a freshman in the fall and is planning to major in Engineering.

The Heritage Scholarship is the university's premier scholarship which provides each recipient full tuition over four years. Most of the competitors were valedictorians at their high schools. The invitation-only competition included three days of group sessions, personal interviews and an essay. Over 97 students from 27 states and three countries competed for this scholarship this year. This year's average SAT for competitors was 1391 and the average high school grade point average was 3.91 on a 4.0 scale.

LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christ-centered university located in Longview, Texas, offering academic majors in aviation, business, criminal justice, education, engineering, health science-nursing, human services, kinesiology, liberal arts, science and psychology. LeTourneau University also offers graduate degrees in business administration, counseling, education, engineering, psychology and strategic leadership. In addition to its residential campus in Longview, the university offers undergraduate and graduate programs online and at educational centers in Athens, Austin, Baytown, Bedford, Dallas, Harlingen, Houston, and Tyler.
